The smooth and soulful lyrical stylings of Adebisi Okuneye supported by a 6 piece band steeped in jazz and hip hop.
Amenta Abioto is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Memphis, TN. In her one-woman performance, she builds vocal and instrumental loops from kalimba, synth, drum machine, and guitar creating atmospheric textures. Weaved into syncopated rhythms and dichotomies of comedic proportions, Amenta surprises and tantalizes audiences with mind bending ideas while skipping vocally from soul-shaking gospel to smooth jazz. Her music is boldly mystical and soul-fired, and her raw live performances invoke elements of both theatrical surprise and magic through ancient African diasporic sounds and stories. Amenta familiarized herself with the stage and studied theater throughout school. Amenta moved to Portland, OR in 2010 where she began her musical career. After forming one band, dopebeds, her solo project made debut in Spring of 2012. Since then Amenta has released three projects and toured with The Blow, Secret Drum Band, and Typhoon.
Kayla J is a 22 year old Portland born and raised lyricist and radio personality. KayelJ was inspired at age 7, and never stop indulging in her desires to create and has utilize every opportunity to propel herself to next level. Although some classify her as hip hop she doesn't want to be boxxed into one genre, and can mince well in other styles as well. Her content consists of material from both the Black and LGBTQ community, and notably freeing empowering vibrations.
